What on earth is so special about that French Tip brush by Dixie Belle anyway? I was skeptical.....if I'm being completely honest.
I have been painting for years and it takes a lot to impress me when it comes to a paintbrush.
Once I find my groove with my favorite brushes.....it takes a lot to allow a new one into the mix.
Well......I've allowed a new one into the mix!
Meet my new fave chalk paint blending brush......the French Tip.
It is a natural bristle brush....which is unusual for me to like!
I LOVE Dixie Belle's synthetic brushes that are designed to load the heavy chalk/mineral paint for more coverage and fewer trips back to the dipping jar! The Dupont synthetic bristles also bounce right back to their original shape after hundreds of uses and washing! And because I know you will ask...my favorite synthetic brushes are: The Mini, Flat Small (FS), Flat Medium (FM), and Oval Medium (OM).
So with so many listed favorites already.....why the need for the French Tip?
Let me just say.....blending....highlighting.....velvet.....powder.
In other words.....it allows you to blend out your finish......to a velvety soft powder-like finish.....and highlight surrounding areas by adding a HUE of color that almost represents a halo effect. I used to create this halo effect with my fingers.....but this brush now does the very same thing.....and better!
It works specifically well around corners and trim. The tip end allows you to be very specific in tighter areas....again....blending out to a velvety halo of color. This is very helpful when shading and highlighting areas.
I used my French Tip blending brush for the first time on these beautiful pink princess nightstands ... and this was also when I knew this brush was going into my permanent collection!

It retains its shape with just the slightest bit of flare of the bristles. I own two....and have now washed them many times....and I'm impressed with how they've held up.
It's a small investment (less than $10) that offers a big impact on your furniture painting finish!
