Pieces like this leopard floral dresser make me wish I had a bigger house.  I just can’t keep all the pieces…but if I could..this would be a keeper…and this hand paint leopard piece already has a place in my home.

You all know how much I love a touch of leopard….or a lot of leopard sometimes….and this new leopard (ok…cheetah if you must) transfer from Redesign had me at first glance!

It can be used in so many ways!  In fact, I think I need to plan a “round up” blog of all the ways my fellow creatives are using this leopard transfer in their furniture art designs…for now, check out all of MY leopard projects.

Ok….it’s NOT all about the leopard here!  Let’s talk about paint and wax and those FLORALS!!!

This lush velvety gray finish was so easy to create by blending just TWO Dixie Belle Paint Colors!

I used driftwood as a base coat over the entire piece.  I then began blending gravel road to the right and left front lower corners.  I used my mister bottle to really get a good blend going back and forth….with my focus on keeping the very center of the piece in the original base coat color (driftwood).

I continued the same colors around to each side….focusing on lighter gray on top blending into the darker gray on the bottom.  I then began blending the gravel road onto the outer edges of the top surface….leaving the driftwood in the center.  The blending technique is so rewarding….with Dixie Belle Paint and water and a brush (see my favorite brushes HERE) you can watch the changes happen before your eyes!

I then began work on the placement of the Redesign with Prima transfers.  This process took quite a while as I sort of built it and added on as I went.  I started by cutting out and around the NEW and LARGE Lush Floral II design transfer flowers and deciding on placement.  Once I had a vision for floral placement I began cutting my Cheetah transfer to fit around my design idea.

Have I lost you yet???  LOL! It’s complicated to explain….but not to do…I promise! I applied leopard….then florals….then more leopard….and more florals. I then filled in with single leaves and twigs….and even a few of the fabulous gold foil adhesives from ReDesign with Prima.

Once I was happy with that design…it was time for some shading!  As always…I prefer to use Best Dang Wax in black by Dixie Belle for the deepest and best shading!  I also used Vega by Redesign for more subtle shimmer shading.  I used both on the drawer fronts only….just to add depth to the beautifully blended paint finish.

The entire piece was given two thin coats of Dixie Belle’s Top Coat in Flat.
And to finish off the look…..I used Redesign decor wax in Eternal to highlight the drawer fronts, the handles and the skirting along the lower front.

Every single time I add gold to a gray finish…..I ask myself why I don’t create this finish more often!
