I think it is safe to say…..painting a horse headboard is not something I am super comfortable with.
I received a request from a mother halfway across the United States though…..for her young daughter…..and I decided to step up to the challenge.
But then….the challenge became REALLY challenging…..when the little girl asked for the horse to be blue and purple…..bahahahahaha! This is real life folks!
I found my inspiration horse on Pinterest…..I really liked the way the mane on this horse draped heavily over one eye. The plan fell into place once I decided on the horse. The yellow sunburst as a backdrop….the trim in turquoise….the balance of the clean black and white to teach side post….and the tone on tone purple on the footboard.
I am surprisingly pleased with this project….and I am even more surprised that I enjoyed painting a horse as much as I did!

This entire bed was painted with Dixie Belle Paint Products and they are listed below. You can simply click on each product and it will take you to the website for purchase. Their paints are so forgiving as they have a thicker consistency than any others that I’ve worked with. It has a texture to that you can feel under your brush…..which also means you get amazing coverage! Yet….it still levels out beautifully……with minimal brush strokes or clumps!
