We had absolutely ZERO plan of rain washing this wall....thats my new term by the way....rain washing....I like it! This wall was going to be charcoal gray with painted trees and white words.....and then I got an idea.......watch out!

Thank goodness Kelsi....the preggo momma....was so trusting...but I honestly believe when we were washing dripped paint from her brand new off white carpet...she was wishing I had stayed in Texas! LOL!
I had NEVER done this technique on a wall before...nor had I researched it in any way!!! I just went for it! I watered down the white and light gray paint that we had on hand....told these two trusting ladies that were helping me to follow me with towels and catch the drips before they hit the floor....and literally rain washed the wall with paint and a very full spray bottle of water.
I loved it the minute it started to drip and run and blend.....the watery movement was exciting and a wee bit out of control! They were scrambling beneath me.....catching water like crazy....and I just kept on spraying!!! It was fairly chaotic and so much fun!!!

I mean look at that wall!!!!
I purposely made the center of the wall more white....knowing my hand painted letters would now be in black...and I needed them to show against the paint....genius right?
This up close shot is really what it looks like! It's a great representation of what it looks like in person....so much depth and movement!
Rained Washed Mural ... half way done!
I was sooooo pleased with the final result and felt a lot of pressure to make my simple little words just right! I didn't want to mess up the overall look....or compete with the background in any way....but still have the words be a focal for above the crib! The wall saying was the basis to the entire theme of the nursery! So I carefully measured and leveled my tape....and then went at it freely with my chalk.
I used a print that Kelsi had found on Pinterest as my inspiration for words and lettering.
I was happy with my wording after just one pass....so it was time to lay down the black paint!
The font was super simplistic...and very elementary....so this part of the wall mural went like super-human fast!
I love love love the final look!!!
Have I said how much I love the final look??? LOL! But really.....
I couldn't have done it without the help of Paige and Kelsi! I love the challenge of trying something new....and it couldn't have been more fun than doing it with them!
Don't take your painting project too seriously ya'll! I say it often....it's only paint!!!!
