Instead, you’re painting over a sealed, slick surface. Without the right prep, paint will likely:

But if the surface feels smooth or glossy, I don’t take the risk.
Skipping primer might save 30 minutes today… but it can cost you hours later.
How to Use Bonding Boss on Laminate Furniture
My simple process:
Clean thoroughly with White Lightning (or another degreaser).
Lightly scuff sand to remove sheen.
Apply a thin, even coat of Bonding Boss. If surface is super slick, use a roller or brush on with a pouncing motion.
Allow it to dry and set for 8 hours. (I usually recommend overnight)
Apply a second coat.
Allow to dry to touch and then paint.
Thin coats are key. You’re building adhesion, not texture.
Is Bonding Boss Always Necessary?
No. If you’re painting raw wood or something already porous, you may not need it.
