"A dream is a wish your heart makes when you're fast asleep" ~ Cinderella I'm not sure whose dream has come true....my client's dream of a Cinderella bed....or my own dream to have an opportunity to create it!

I purchased this bed here in San Antonio...without a client in mind. I knew it would sell quickly....and it did! I had more offers on this bed than any piece of furniture I've ever painted.....and that was in its "before" phase!

Just look at her now!
Isn't she fabulous! She is 100% Cinderella!!!!

My client actually provided me with a photo she'd been holding onto for a year or more. It was a French-style bed painted by someone else....and she asked me to do my best with the same look on this heavily carved Rococo style bed.
The heavily carved furniture is so rewarding to paint but it takes some serious time and patience! It's probably much faster to spray it....but I'm not fond of spraying.....so I go at it with a brush in hand!
My tip for filling "all the holes" can be found in the first video of a four-part series on YouTube. Click here to see the entire YouTube playlist of the making of this Cinderella Bed.
Other than the carvings....this bed was not difficult! There is no blending.....no layering.....no hand-drawn details! Just a good cleaning, primer and paint!
Cleaned with White Lightning and rinsed well.
Primed with one coat of Boss White.
Based coated the entire bed with one coat of Drop Cloth.
Custom blend done "in-place" with Haint Blue, Dusty Blue, and Drop Cloth. (can be seen on this video)
Second coat of Drop Cloth applied to areas that will be ivory.
Gilded all heavy carved areas and tiny trims with Gilding Wax in Gold.
Top coated gold mousse in Clear Coat Gloss.
Top coated blue and ivory spaces in Clear Coat Satin.
Watch the four-part YouTube video HERE for a more detailed explanation.
I really want to bring to your attention the Gold Gilding Wax. Just look at it here....up close!

It is thick and highly pigmented....which allows a single coat application. You are correct....the majority of this gold was done in one coat! AND.....it only took two of the tiny pots!!!
I am sooooo very happy with this product and plan to use it over and over and over again!

I hope you'll give it a try!
Have I mentioned lately how much I love my job??? I mean...I get to create Cinderella beds, Alice in Wonderland dressers, Marilyn Monroe headboards, and Marie Antoniette Armoires for a living! Whose life is this anyway???
Thank you for hanging out here with me.....I appreciate you more than you know!

See you next week!
XOXO,
Tracey
