Come on in ya'll!
I've decided to share this process with you by opening my home….right here!
It is finally time to join the trend…..I can't put it off any longer…..
The gold/brown/cream tones are being removed from my home…..room by room!
And I've started with the dining room!
side note…my home was built in 1964…is modest in size…has low POPCORN ceilings….but I love it anyway……so be nice
About three years ago we painted this harlequin wall in the dining room. It is the first wall you seen when you open the front door! It is a wonderful welcome every single time I walk in my door….and for all others that enter. I did not want to paint over it….so I decided to RE-paint it and KEEP it!

And I couldn't be happier!!!!! It's stunning in its new colors!!!
I chose to use Dixie Belle Paint for this project. And it worked beautifully!
Caviar (black), Hurricane Gray (gray) and Fluff (white) compliment one another perfectly in this harlequin pattern.
We inherited this gorgeous table and chairs from my sister a few years ago. Within just a few short months of enjoying it in our home….my 10-year-old spilled nail polish remover all over the surface and the finish was ruined! This sort of thing is an absolute disaster for your dining room, especially as it may force you to buy a whole new dining table. Of course, you can do this by visiting a site such as https://www.brosa.com.au/dining-kitchen/tables, and you may have to comfort yourself by purchasing an even nicer table to make up for the one that you had before.
I was devastated.
My husband tackled the job of stripping and sanding the surface. The top face of the table was gorgeous in its raw beauty….but we discovered the top edge/trim of the table was NOT wood!!! It stripped down to expose this white plaster looking surface which just sort of melted and became really rough. I was over trying to save the WOOD! It was time to break out the Caviar black paint!
We are planning to paint AND reupholster the chairs too…..but I just couldn't wait that long to share this room transformation with you.

In the photo below, you can see the roughness of the FAKE wood trim that just flat out melted when we used stripper on it. I just painted right over that mess….and still love the final look!
The three photos below show the difference between unpainted, painted and distressed. I wasn't certain that I would distress this table….especially after I painted it. The Dixie Belle Paint results in such a smooth velvety finish….that I almost left it untouched.
That is the beauty of this paint… You can just paint and walk away! But I opted to distress very lightly and I really love the end result.
And while we are looking so closely at the distressed footprint of the table….can we talk about that rug???
I wanted a gray-toned rug….but I also knew that the adjacent room would be heavy with PINK!!! When I saw this rug….with its little touches of RASPBERRY…..I KNEW it was the perfect fit! You can purchase this rug here. You won't be disappointed!!!
So thats it for now!!! I will be sure to revisit this room once we have upholstered our chairs. In fact, I am certain we will document that process as we plan to tackle it ourselves!
I hope I have inspired you to tackle that one project in your home that you've put off! I certainly delayed this process for months as I felt it was too overwhelming! But let me tell you…..I am over-joyed with this room….and have eagerly tackled my entry way AND my office already!!!
