I've painted many harlequin pieces over the years but this is my first "all over" harlequin.... I then chose BOSS primer in Gray to prepare my piece for paint. I applied a single layer of BOSS.... as I knew the SILK paint I would be using also has the equivalent I lost patience (way too much taping) and chose to paint the rest of this top surface free hand. The beauty of using SILK all-in-one paint..... it doesn't require a top coat!

I then painted the piece in two coats of Fluff.... my favorite soft white by Dixie Belle Paint. I have listed all the paint colors that I used to paint the colorful side in the shop section below. You may also have noticed the direction the paint is brushed on. pattern with paint! So I painted it! I used my black to paint over the black stripe...and my white to do the same.

I pulled shades from my Dixie Belle Paint….and got to work! It is also the base of my popular Mermaid Chair (if you missed that post you can see it here). I LOVE to paint salt and pepper grinders!  Many of you have sent me photos of painted sets that you've painted and I just love to know that my blog I recommend the wooden sets ... they are easier to paint on.   I paint a base coat of primer using Bonding Boss in white .  To achieve this, I used Midnight Green (Silk Paint) and Peacock (Chalk Paint) . 

So I painted the entire piece in Peony. With Caviar, I painted each hoof and, using the blending technique, I created a graduated pink to black Using a small brush and metal leafing adhesive, I painted every zebra stripe in preparation for the leafing In retrospect, I should have sealed my paint first, then applied my gold zebra stripes. I love every single inch of this painted buffet! I love the photo of the buffet half painted....and half unpainted. I even added a little to the painted elephant head drawer pulls....which HELLO!!!! But the hand painted leopard print and zebra patterns are not mistaken for outer-space and are featured I love accenting with these two prints as much as I like using stripes and harlequin!

I can't believe I am saying this....but I purchased and "sort of" painted a trunk.
