I find it interesting have never owned a single piece of painted blue furniture... until recently.
It happens to be my least favorite color to decorate with - running a tight race with purple.
It is however wildly popular with my creative community and clients which means I paint with it a lot! I enjoy creating with the color just not living with it.
Side note: My bedroom as a teen was very blue - baby blue walls, baby blue sheers, navy blue drapes, cobalt blue floral bedding.... Possibly that was enough for me for a lifetime?
For now, let's enjoy all the shades of blue for YOU with a round up of 15 of my favorite commissioned chalk painted blue furniture pieces over the years in hopes that you will be inspired!

My Favorite Blue Chalk Paint Colors
15 Blue Chalk Painted Furniture Ideas
I've pulled together 15 of my favorite commissioned chalk painted blue furniture pieces from my blog library to inspire you!
Are you ready? Let's go!
Cobalt Blue Chalk Painted Furniture
My top favorite of all the blues pieces I've ever done is this deep sea cobalt/teal blend antique headboard! It was purchased by one of my top painted furniture collectors! Visit the blog HERE for more details and photos.
This particular style dresser is one that I feel we've all lived with at one point in our life. This was an easy vintage flip with a bold result for a baby nursery. See the full blog HERE for more photos and details.
The Art of Color Blending
I offer a 2-hour course that teaches you how to confidently create check patterns and blend colors on your furniture.
The cobalt in this piece sits in juxtaposition to the earthy tones of stone.....wrapped in the shimmery shades of a geode. My clients grandmothers china hutch now sits as a feature piece in her home. More photos and DIY details are available in the full blog HERE.
Cobalt blue is incredibly versatile....however I find myself leaning into spanish and mediterranean styles with it easily. This simple $30 thrifted armoire became a stunning storage cabinet with just a days work Visit the blog HERE for more details and photos.
Decoupage Furniture Tutorial
I offer a full tutorial that will walk you step-by-step through the application of decoupage paper to paint blending techniques, and adding finishing touches that make your designs pop!
A simple shaker cabinet brought to me by my client.....took on an English Countryside vibe at her request with a blend of cobalt and navy. She now stores her family quilts in this piece that works beautifully in her home filled with her Blue Willow china collection! See the full blog HERE for more photos and details.
Antebellum Blue Chalk Painted Furniture
One of my favorite furniture painting memories will always be this one.... guiding my son through his first piece of painted furniture. I kept this piece for myself. This particular shade of blue is very soothing to me and this little nightstand is the ONLY blue piece that I own. More photos and DIY details are available in the full blog HERE.
Another small side table painted primarily in Antebellum blue... yet shades of gray offer highlights. This is a great comparison to the solid color Antebellum nightstand in the previous blog. Do you prefer a solid color or one with blended highlights? Head over to the blog HERE for more details and photos.
Dusty Blue Chalk Painted Furniture
A stunning pair of custom painted nightstands for my client with a nod to her Chinese history. This gorgeous color is underused and underrated and I hope you will be inspired to give it a try. See the full blog HERE for more photos and details.
The Gulf (Aqua) Chalk Painted Furniture
Another "grandmother's china hutch" in the same style as the cobalt geode one above....but painted with a very different technique. My client wanted a happy and bold color to serve as a backdrop for her black and white plates....but to also represent the energy and happiness that her grandmother shared with others daily. More photos and DIY details are available in the full blog HERE.
Art deco is a style that has grown on me over the years. I especially enjoy painting art deco armoires such as this one that I painted as a teaching guide for one of my crazy fun furniture retreats! Visit the blog HERE for more details and photos.
Metal Leafing Tutorial
I offer a full tutorial that will teach you how to create stunning metallic finishes that make your pieces truly stand out.
Holy chunky antiques! This gorgeous Jacobean china hutch was also used as a teaching tool at yet another furniture painting retreat! It now resides in the gorgeous beach house of the dear friend that opened her home to so many others for the retreat! See the full blog HERE for more photos and details.

Multiple shades of blue demonstrated in their own little space for an art deco Frank Lloyd Wright style cabinet turned bar! You'll love this one....don't miss the inside shimmer! See the full blog HERE for more photos and details.
